Pura Vida Yoga Retreat
26th January – 1st February 2020
Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
I was blessed to share a stunning yoga retreat in the exquisite beauty of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is one the most beautiful and biodiverse countries on the planet, an ecological gem of tropical rainforests, rolling green hills and pristine beaches. Costa Rican culture is defined as pura vida, pure life, where the beauty and power of nature is the temple and sunlight is the soul.
Pranamar Villas is a barefoot luxury boutique experience on the beautiful beach of Playa Hermosa. Stunning white sand beaches, lush vegetation, tropical forest and spectacular sunsets made an unforgettable setting for our retreat experience.
Pranamar Villas has been ecologically constructed with tropical simplicity in harmony with the beauty of nature. The villas are Balinese inspired architecture, built from bamboo, hardwood and stone. The buildings surround a river-lagoon theme pool, tropical gardens and beautiful beach.
The elegantly designed villas offer stunning nature and ocean views. Decorated with hand-crafted Indonesian furniture, the villas inspire a naturally relaxed atmosphere. Luxurious granite stone tubs give a unique, exotic touch to the open-air bathrooms.
On waking up in this stunning location, we shared a blissful sunrise sadhana in the Balinese Yoga Shala, surrounded by tropical gardens, the sounds of nature and ocean waves. Moving through beautiful sequencing and creative namaskars, we embodied the beauty, power and evolutionary energy of nature through elemental inspired Vinyasa. In the afternoons, we surrendered to a more restorative, yin sadhana, allowing yogis to rest, renew and rejuvenate.
The delicious, nutritious vegetarian and fish cuisine was lovingly prepared to nourish the body and enliven the senses. We shared a love of good food, laughter and connection at the Balinese inspired Kaivita restaurant and on the beach under a starry night sky each evening.
In their free time, yogis relaxed by the pool, in the tropical gardens or walked along the white sand, banana-palm lined beach. Some indulged in a luxurious massage. The Spa is a sanctuary for total body relaxation and renewal.
Santa Teresa is blessed with some of Costa Rica’s best surf spots and yogis enjoyed riding the ocean waves. Some yogis visited the Montezuma Waterfalls and the beautiful Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve. Yogis were blessed to see howler monkeys and a variety of colourful, tropical birds.
We closed each day together watching the stunning sun set into the Pacific Ocean, sharing gratitude for the Pura Vida of life.
We had a truly magical time in Costa Rica and friendships formed to last a lifetime!

Thank you for a lovely trip full of wonderful memories.
Your Costa Rica retreat was fabulous. The massages and yoga classes that I attended were perfect for me. Getting away on the hike and seeing animals and plants of Costa Rica were also wonderful experiences. I really enjoyed getting to know all of you.
Pranamar Villas you was a dream! Heidi, you are a magical yoga pixie and I’m so grateful for the adventure.
We have been to quite a few yoga retreats but Heidi’s attention to detail both in her teaching and venues keeps us coming back again and again. A great way to improve our practice and see parts of the world we wouldn’t necessarily venture to.
